I made this pendant in the shape of the letter "M", wanting to try something a bit different with the coiling technique. The choice of beads was sort of "take whatever you have", I would have preferred stones with irregular shapes at a size inbetween the small black firepolished beads and large smoke quartz nuggets.
This past Saturday I took a class in coiling for beginners, with the talented SuzyQ as instructor. We made bracelets based on an instruction from Eni Oken for a coiled bangle. I chose beads in muted pink shades. It was really time-consuming, and really worth it! The clasp is still missing in the picture, I need to get something that doesn't make the bracelet too long, and is the right color.
Coiling is a technique that I have quite recently discovered. It was (I think) first used by the very talented artist Eni Oken. I initially came across it on a Swedish beading forum where the equally talented SuzyQ has posted some of her pieces. These earrings are my first attempt at coiling. I didn't use the technique as intented, however I am very pleased with the result! In three weeks I will be attempting an afternoon coiling course for beginners where SuzyQ (Susanna Segerholm) is the teacher. Looking forward to it!
