My latest necklace was difficult to photograph without a model, but here goes... The necklace is such that it can be worn in many different ways, wrapped one, two, or three times around the neck. I have linked white, black, and silver-colored beads and pearls. This necklace will really add some attitude to an otherwise strict and dull outfit!
I made this pendant in the shape of the letter "M", wanting to try something a bit different with the coiling technique. The choice of beads was sort of "take whatever you have", I would have preferred stones with irregular shapes at a size inbetween the small black firepolished beads and large smoke quartz nuggets.
This past Saturday I took a class in coiling for beginners, with the talented SuzyQ as instructor. We made bracelets based on an instruction from Eni Oken for a coiled bangle. I chose beads in muted pink shades. It was really time-consuming, and really worth it! The clasp is still missing in the picture, I need to get something that doesn't make the bracelet too long, and is the right color.
Coiling is a technique that I have quite recently discovered. It was (I think) first used by the very talented artist Eni Oken. I initially came across it on a Swedish beading forum where the equally talented SuzyQ has posted some of her pieces. These earrings are my first attempt at coiling. I didn't use the technique as intented, however I am very pleased with the result! In three weeks I will be attempting an afternoon coiling course for beginners where SuzyQ (Susanna Segerholm) is the teacher. Looking forward to it!
The best of my latest necklaces. All five of them are worn rather tight against the neck, with a focal piece hanging down the middle. This is my favorite style at the moment. It is very easy to wear with any garment that is v-necked.
Taking these pictures, I spent some time testing different settings on my camera. Finally I achieved quite good lighting indoors. During this shoot I used a very shallow focal depth, it looks pretty cool but it makes it difficut to really see what the jewelry pieces look like.
I stayed home from work today due to a bad cold, and i FINALLY found the time to catch up on taking photos of the jewelry I have been making. Generally I'm not so keen on taking photos indoors because I don't have access to very good lighting. Taking photos outdoors in December in Sweden is more or less out of the question. Not very many hours of daylight, and very few sunny days.
Anyway, here are my most recent items, some of them Christmas gifts...
Four of my favorite pieces made (and worn) this summer. I'm not always into very colorful jewelry, black always works for me...
I'm a bit disappointed by the photos I achieved today. I still haven't learned how to get the light right when taking pictures indoors. I had to photoshop these to get the colors close to the truth. Guess I need to pratice, or read the manual...:-)
Isn't this pink theme just darling?
I'm busy these days selling my apartment and moving to a house, but today I had the opportunity to play around with a really awesome camera (borrowed, but we're getting one just like it!), and obviously I took pictures of some jewelry. It has been a sunny day, so I took the pictures outdoors. No need for a tripod or a lamp, however the shadows turn out very sharp. Here is a picture of a white necklace and matching earrings that I made last week. The necklace consists of white freshwater pearls, clear glass chips, and tiny white pearly rocaille beads. The earrings are very simple and elegant with clear glass chips.
